Calling all faculty and staff!! As some of you probably already know, Colleges Against Cancer hosts Relay For Life every spring semester, a fundraiser that generates thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society. Participants make teams and walk around a track all night-because cancer is a disease that never sleeps. Previously, we have not had much faculty involvement and we are trying to change this! We want to encourage faculty to make their own teams, and fundraise and participate in the event just like the students.
The theme this year is “Around the World,” so you can get creative with your team names (maybe pick a country), or you could sign up with the school you work in (for example, The School of Nursing team). The date of this year’s Relay For Life is Friday, March 22 through Saturday March 23, with doors opening in the Recreation Center at 7pm on Friday night.
It’s very easy to sign up, all you have to do is go to www.relayforlife.org/tcnj and create or join a team. The cost to register is $10 a person, and this doubles one month before the event (so sign up soon!). Participants can choose to fundraise online, through sending out emails to friends, family, and co-workers or choose to fundraise elsewhere. The goal is to be creative!! Lastly, although this event goes all night, no one is required to stay-although it’s so fun, you’ll find it hard to leave!
