Loss in our community: Louise Fradkin, retired head of reference in Roscoe L. West Library

Louise Fradkin, retired head of reference in the Roscoe L. West Library, passed away February 12, 2013. Ms. Fradkin, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Drexel Institute Library School, began her career at Trenton State College in 1967 as Readers Adviser in the Horace Mann Room. By the time she retired in 1987, she had participated in great changes in the Library including the addition of a new wing, the conversion of the book classification system from Dewey Decimal to Library of Congress, the movement of the college from primarily teacher training to liberal arts, and the introduction of library technology. In her retirement she was co-founder of the support group Children of Aging Parents, managed her synagogue’s library, and along with her husband, Leon, took almost every course Bucks County Community College offered. She is remembered as a gracious and generous person.
