We are saddened to report the passing of Karl Gottesman on April 10, 2013. He was 79.
Karl joined the Trenton State College administration in 1969, where he first advised returning servicemen and other non-traditional students in the Office of Continuing Education. He eventually moved to the Office of the Academic Vice President where he served for many years as Assistant to the Academic Vice President. He knew most all faculty personally, and among his many responsibilities, the one he enjoyed the most was representing the Academic Vice President on the FIRSL Committee (now called SOSA), which assesses campuswide applications for released time from teaching in support of scholarly projects. He retired in 1994 and moved to Chestertown on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. In retirement, he continued to pursue his long-standing musical talent and interests, playing guitar in several groups, including Colonel Leonard’s Irregulars and the Foggy Memory Boys, both regional blue grass bands. His close friends, many of whom remain at the college, remember him for his humor, his intellect, his love of music, theater, history, politics, books, good food, good whiskey, and especially good conversation.
There are no public funeral or memorial service arrangements for Karl at this time.
