EWING -- Students at The College of Jersey tapped into their primal side at the campus on Wednesday -- and not by leaving their cell phones at home.
Teams of students competed in the college's second Archaeolympics -- "a prehistoric skills competition," Tom Beaver, a spokesman for the college, described.
Events include spear-throwing, rope-making and stone tool creation -- or atlatl, cording and flint knapping as they're known to prehistoric aficionados.
They also attempted the cobble toss, fire-starting and pottery artifact re-creation.
"This is the second time we've hosted Archaeolympics," Beaver said. "Students embrace the experience, dressing the part and engaging in friendly competition with their peers in the quest for top prize."
Medals were awarded to the top three finishers in each event.
The college's department of sociology and anthropology and the office of fraternity and sorority life sponsored the event.
