TCNJ took home the first-ever Certificate of Recognition for the New Jersey Charging Challenge: Electrify Your Workplace competition through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection yesterday.

The award recognizes the electric vehicle charging stations installed in TCNJ’s Metzger parking garage as an outstanding environmental project. The college partnered with PSE&G last year to bring five Level 2 charging stations to campus and a ribbon-cutting event to promote the use of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations was held in the Metzger lot in July 2016. The charging stations are part of TCNJ’s sustainability initiatives and reinforces the college’s commitment to living in a healthier, environmentally conscious environment.

The Charging Challenge honors employers in New Jersey that are providing workplace charging for electric vehicles and encouraging employees to reduce emissions of air pollutants from cars. The certificate was presented at the annual Governor’s Environmental Excellence Awards ceremony at the New Jersey State Museum on Wednesday, December 7.
