EWING -- Assemblyman Reed Gusciora doesn't have much hair to begin with, but he shaved it all off for a good cause on Friday.
Gusciora (D-Mercer), the deputy majority leader, was one of more than 60 people who "braved the shave" to raise awareness and money to fight childhood cancer through the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
Friday's event was sponsored by The College of New Jersey's Phi Alpha Delta fraternity. This year, they raised $30,000, beating last year's $23,000.
The money will help support research grants and institutions participating in cutting-edge pediatric cancer clinical trials.
"While hundreds of millions of dollars are raised to combat cancer in adults, pediatric cancer research is grossly underfunded," Gusciora said. "We need to support efforts that aggressively pursue effective treatments and cures for pediatric cancers. Every child deserves a chance to live a full, healthy life."
