MONEY names TCNJ #24 in the nation on list of “Best Colleges for Your Money”

MONEY announced its annual ranking of “Best Colleges for Your Money” and once again, TCNJ excelled. The college placed 14th among all public colleges and universities in the nation, and 24th overall. In New Jersey, TCNJ ranked 1st among public colleges and universities, and 2nd overall.

In the profile that accompanied TCNJ’s inclusion on the list, MONEY Magazine noted that “The College of New Jersey is a public school that easily could be confused with a private one, due to its small size, residential model, and liberal arts curriculum,” adding that, “recent graduates report an average salary of $52,100, which is substantially higher than alumni from colleges that offer a similar mix of academic programs.”

MONEY ranks only colleges that have sufficient reliable data to be analyzed. Colleges must have a graduation rate at or above the median for their institutional category (public or private). Or they must fall in the top 25 percent of the publications “value-added” graduation analysis—in other words, they must have unusually high graduation rates compared with schools that serve students with similar test scores and socioeconomic backgrounds.

MONEY evaluated 711 schools, which were then ranked based on 27 factors in three categories: quality of education, affordability and outcomes, primarily based on alumni salary data.
