TCNJ remains top ranked public college in region

released its annual Best Colleges rankings today and The College of New Jersey again received high marks. TCNJ tied for fourth overall and placed first among public colleges, in the “Best Regional Universities—North” category. TCNJ has held the top spot in its region among public colleges since 1991.

TCNJ also ranked as the top university for veterans in the region and second in the region for Best Undergraduate Teaching.

The college tied for first in the region in average freshman retention rate (94 percent). TCNJ also ranked second for the highest percentage of freshmen coming from the top 25 percent of their high school class (76 percent), and second in actual six-year graduation rate for 2016 (87 percent). In other rankings, looking at four-year graduation rate, TCNJ has the fifth highest-percentage among all public colleges and universities.

TCNJ recently received high marks from other publications as well.

MONEY Magazine, which released its rankings in July, placed the college 14th among all public colleges and universities in the nation, and 24th overall. In New Jersey, TCNJ ranked 1st among public colleges and universities, and 2nd overall.

In August, NJ.com ranked TCNJ fourth on its list of “35 N.J. colleges that have the highest-paid grads.”

TCNJ also ranked 74th overall and 23rd among public institutions on Forbes’ 2017 list of “America’s Best Value Colleges”
