TCNJ Captures NJAC Cup

PITMAN, N.J. – A year of athletics excellence led to The College of New Jersey earning its first NJAC Cup, announced Sunday by the conference at its annual awards brunch. TCNJ finished with an .834 winning percentage, the highest in the three-year history of the NJAC Cup.

"It's been a really fun year for TCNJ Athletics," said Amanda V. DeMartino, TCNJ Executive Director of Athletics. "Our coaches and staff work so hard every day to provide the best college and championship experience for our student athletes.?  When those efforts are rewarded in the form of team success and student-athlete experience, it's a really special feeling and we are very proud to earn this honor."

NJAC-member institutions earn points based off their finishes in the NJAC standings and championship meets for the sports that they sponsor. That number is divided by the total number of possible points that an institution could earn based on their sports lineups.

TCNJ won the award with 116 points out of a possible 139 points, netting the Lions a winning percentage of .834. TCNJ topped second-place Rowan's .816 winning percentage. Rowan won the first two NJAC Cups in 2015-16 and 2016-17.

TCNJ used seven first-place finishes to power past Rowan for the NJAC Cup. The Lions recorded the top spot in the NJAC standings in women's soccer, women's tennis, baseball, softball and lacrosse. TCNJ also claimed meet championships in women's cross country and women's indoor track & field.
