Women's Tennis Clinches 36th Straight NJAC Championship

MAHWAH, N.J. – The College of New Jersey women's tennis team swept an NJAC double header for the second straight day to secure the program's 36th consecutive title. TCNJ has won every NJAC match competed since the sport was first sponsored in 1982. The Lions first defeated Ramapo College 9-0, before beating William Paterson University by an identical score. TCNJ improved to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play. The Roadrunners are 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the NJAC. The Pioneers are 0-2 overall and 0-1 in league play.
 
TCNJ has claimed the conference's automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament in the spring. The Lions conference winning streak in the longest active conference winning streak in any sport among all three divisions.
 
In the win over Ramapo, TCNJ dropped just six games. Liya Davidov and Katrine Luddy won 8-2 at first doubles. Grace Minassian and Andrea Giacobbo earned an 8-1 win at second doubles. Navya Yemula and Alyssa Baldi were perfect, winning 8-0 at third doubles.
 
The Lions won all six singles matches in straight sets. Luddy, Baldi, Yemula, and Emily Szkudlarski all won without dropping a game.
 
TCNJ was even more dominant in the win over the Pioneers. The Lions did not drop a single game in the match. Davidov and Baldi each improved to 21-0 on the season with pairs of victories. Yemula also went 4-0 on the day, improving to 19-0 on the year.
 
The Lions will be in action next weekend, Sept. 22-24, when they travel to William Smith College for ITA Regional Tournaments.
