The TCNJ Alumni Association welcomed Ian Ruderman ’89 as its new president on July 1. Ruderman took the reins from Peter Simons ’98, who completed a very successful three-year term.
Ruderman is currently the managing director for Creative Financial Group, with 25 years of experience in the financial services management field. He is a 1989 graduate from Trenton State College with a degree in public administration. In his spare time, he plays the drums for the popular Jersey Shore band, Moondoggie. He resides in Freehold, New Jersey with his wife, Eileen Whalen Ruderman ’89, and daughters Hailey ’21 and Lindsey ’23.
“I am thrilled to become the new president of the TCNJ Alumni Association,” Ruderman says. “To be able to interact with my alma mater, where my family has roots, is very special. I look forward to working with our alumni community to continue to bring them new and engaging ways to stay connected to the college.”
Simons, whose term ended on June 30, was president of the alumni association since 2018 and has been a board member since 2015.
During his term, Simons increased the size of the alumni association board from 15 people to 33; increased the number of alumni chapters from 10 to 23, including two regional chapters in New York City and Philadelphia; increased the association’s sponsorship and funding pledges to nearly $100,000; and organized multiple alumni outings, including trips to the Philadelphia 76ers and Phillies, Kimmel Center Broadway shows, and a TCNJ alumni beer tasting event.
“The alumni association cannot thank Pete enough for his time and dedication as president over the past three years,” says Amy Walton, director of alumni engagement. “Pete has worked tirelessly to continue to expand opportunities for our alumni community to remain active with TCNJ. His work was incredibly important, and will certainly be remembered and continued.”
