New recruiting program asks alumni to ID future college talent

No one knows TCNJ better than the lions who have learned, lived, and worked on the campus. That’s why the Office of Human Resources is implementing a new program where alumni will be able to play an important role in the college’s employment searches.

In April, the Office of Human Resources announced its Alumni Talent Sourcing program. This initiative, aimed at alumni with vast personal networks across industries, both within the U.S. and across the globe, will encourage fellow lions to recommend individuals for employment with the college. Alumni networks are currently underutilized as an approach to identifying and recruiting potential high-quality candidates, according to Lee Webster, interim vice president for the Office of Human Resources.

“We hope this program creates a loop of talent acquisition where alumni have a principal role in identifying and refreshing the staff who serve this organization,” says Webster. “Since many of our graduates work and live in the greater New Jersey area, this program could provide a steady and reliable flow of talent from the local community to serve at TCNJ.”

Human Resources also hopes to capture, analyze, and report yield data to determine the quality and effectiveness of the program.

“A successful implementation of this recruitment model will serve as a template for other higher learning institutions to leverage the experiences and relationships of its alumni to improve internal operations and practices,” Webster says. “This also gives alumni another channel they may pursue to give back ‘in kind’ to their alma mater.”
