Women's Tennis Captures 37th Straight NJAC Title

EWING, N.J. – The College of New Jersey women's tennis team continued the longest active conference winning streak in the country among any sport and any division Saturday capturing a 37th straight NJAC title. The Lions are 188-0 since conference play began in 1982. The Lions defeated Ramapo and William Paterson by 9-0 scores to secure the conference championship Saturday.
 
The Lions (6-0, 6-0 NJAC) got off to a strong start in doubles play against the Roadrunners (1-1, 0-1 NJAC). Liya Davidov and Katrine Luddy earned an 8-0 win at number one. Charlotte Roarty and Jenny Landells combined for an 8-1 win at number two. Alexa Vasile and Anusha Rangu won 8-1 at number three.
 
The Lions won in straight sets on courts two through six in singles play. Julia Yoon and Navya Yemula each earned singles wins. Davidov played her most competitive match of the conference schedule, needing a third set superbreaker to win at number one. Davidov is now 12-0 at first singles and 12-0 at first doubles in her NJAC career.
 
In the match against the Pioneers (0-3, 0-1 NJAC), TCNJ dropped a total of just two games across all matches.
 
With the wins, TCNJ has earned the conference's automatic bid into the 2020 NCAA Tournament which will take place in the spring.
 
The Lions now look ahead to the ITA Regional Tournament hosted by William Smith. The opportunity to earn All-America honors begins on Sept. 21.
